GreenGeeks services renew automatically. To cancel, you turn off auto-renew in the dashboard, which creates a cancellation request. You can let the service run out or end it right away with Cancel Now.
Refund rules
- Window: The first 30 days after account activation. It applies to the start of your service, not to renewals.
- What you get back: Hosting charges, minus setup fees, domain registration, and add-ons.
- Domains: Never refundable. If a free domain came with your plan and you leave within 30 days, the domain registration fee is deducted from the refund. A domain transferred in counts as a registration.
- Other exclusions: Dedicated IPs, SSL certificates, CDN, and professional services. The guarantee also does not apply to accounts with non-use, misuse, or abuse.
- After 30 days: No refunds.
Questions about a refund go to the billing department through a support ticket.
Back up first
GreenGeeks says to keep a copy of your website and database files before you submit a cancellation request. A cancellation can be processed any time after GreenGeeks receives it, and the account and files are then permanently removed. Download your email too.
How to cancel
- Log in to your GreenGeeks dashboard and click Manage next to the hosting service.
- On the management page, click the link to disable Auto Renew.
- Enter your reason for cancelling and submit the request.
GreenGeeks generates a cancellation request and emails you a copy. You can also find it on the Billing tab.
To stop the service immediately instead of at the end of the term, open the cancellation request and click Cancel Now, then follow the prompts.
Each service cancels separately. Turning off auto-renew for hosting does not cancel your domain or add-ons; add-ons are under the Addons tab of the service's management page.
Timing
Turn off auto-renew at least 5 business days before the renewal date. GreenGeeks renews accounts 24 hours before the renewal date, and its terms say you are charged in full for the month in which you cancel.
Changed your mind? Open the cancellation request, click I Changed My Mind, then Yes to turn auto-renew back on.
Moving to another host?
Migrate first, then cancel. Compare five-year costs on the GreenGeeks renewal price page, or see GreenGeeks against SiteGround and Bluehost.
