How to Cancel GoDaddy Hosting and Get a Refund (30-Day and 48-Hour Rules)
How to cancel a GoDaddy hosting subscription, when you can get a refund (30 days for annual plans, 48 hours for monthly), and how to request it by phone or chat.
- godaddy
- cancellation
At GoDaddy, cancelling and refunding are two separate steps. Cancelling stops the subscription; a refund only happens if you also ask a GoDaddy Guide for it within the refund window.
Know your refund window
GoDaddy's refund policy (revised September 2026) sets these standard windows from the date of the transaction:
- Annual and longer plans: 30 days
- Plans shorter than a year (monthly, 6-month, 9-month): 48 hours
- Brazilian customers: 7 days for all products
If your hosting plan came with a free domain, GoDaddy deducts the domain's full list price (not a promotional price) from the refund.
Option 1: Cancel and request a refund
- Check that you are still inside the refund window.
- Delete the hosting product: go to Renewals and Billing, select Manage Subscriptions, and choose the product. If auto-renew is on, select Cancel Plan first and follow the prompts; if it is off, select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion from the Action Required email GoDaddy sends you by selecting Yes, I Want to Delete!
- Contact a GoDaddy Guide by phone, SMS, or chat from the Contact Us page and request the refund.
GoDaddy does not process refund requests sent by email. Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play must be refunded by that store.
Option 2: Cancel at the end of the term
If you are past the refund window, cancel the subscription so you are not billed again:
- Go to Renewals and Billing and select Manage Subscriptions.
- Select the product, then Cancel Plan.
- Choose a reason and select Continue to Cancel (you may be asked once or twice more).
- Under Confirm your cancellation, check the end date and select Confirm Cancel.
You keep using the product until that date. Afterwards GoDaddy deletes the product and its data. Changed your mind? You can renew manually before then.
Before you cancel
- Back up your site. Deleted products may not be recoverable, even with time left on the subscription.
- Bundled products cannot be deleted or refunded individually.
- Do not close your GoDaddy account yet. Once account data is deleted you can lose refund eligibility. Wait until refunds are settled.
Moving to another host?
Copy your site to the new host and switch DNS before you cancel. If renewal cost is the reason, compare five-year costs on the GoDaddy renewal price page, or see GoDaddy against Bluehost, Hostinger, and IONOS.
