- cancellation
You cancel IONOS from Contracts & subscriptions in your IONOS account, or by phone. Inside the first month, a money-back guarantee may apply; after that, you can still cancel, subject to the minimum term and notice period.
Refund rules
- 30-day money-back guarantee: Within the first month, where it was offered for your product. If it applies, an End trial period now button appears in the contract details.
- After the guarantee: Cancelling costs nothing extra. You get a final invoice when the contract ends, and any basic fee you overpaid is refunded.
- Not refunded: Fees paid in advance for additional options and domains.
- Minimum term: You can cancel at any time, but the minimum contract term and agreed notice period still apply.
Before you cancel
- Back up everything. Export your data from each product first.
- Email: If you use IONOS email, list all your addresses, mailboxes, and forwarding.
- Invoices: Download all invoices you need; you lose access to your IONOS account once the cancellation takes effect if you have no other contracts.
- Domain Guard: If it is protecting your domains, switch it off first.
How to cancel online
- Log in to your IONOS account and click Menu > My account.
- Click the Contracts & subscriptions tile.
- Click the name of the contract in the Service column.
- Click Cancel contract in the Details tab.
- Click Select in the Cancel this entire contract tile.
- Choose a reason and click Next. Depending on the contract, pick the cancellation date or type.
- Click Next or Continue cancellation.
- Tick the box confirming you have backed up your data, then click Make a note of cancellation now.
IONOS shows the cancellation date and emails you a confirmation. You can also cancel by phone at +1 484 424 7392.
Domains
Cancelling or transferring away all the domains in a contract does not end the contract; you keep being billed until you cancel the contract itself.
Moving to another host?
Move your site and domain first. Compare five-year costs on the IONOS renewal price page, or see IONOS against GoDaddy and Hostinger.
