EasyWP has a built-in WordPress Migration tool. You give it your current site's address and admin login, and it copies the site into your EasyWP subscription.

Before you start

  • You need an active EasyWP subscription with no site on it yet. If it already has a site, remove that site first. New to EasyWP? See how to sign up for EasyWP.
  • Do not change your domain's nameservers. The domain must keep pointing to your current host until the migration is done.

The tool cannot migrate:

  • Sites on WordPress.com, which uses a different login system
  • Sites with Captcha or math challenges on the login page
  • Sites with a Jetpack security setting that blocks access

Remove those protections before you start.

Step 1: Launch the migration tool

  1. In your Namecheap account, click Set up WordPress next to the EasyWP subscription.
  2. Choose Migrate your WordPress website.
  3. Click the plus (+) icon to review the migration requirements.

Step 2: Enter your current site details

Fill in:

  • The current website address (URL)
  • Your WordPress admin username
  • Your WordPress password

Step 3: Choose a domain option

  • Domain from EasyWP: a free temporary address, handy for testing first
  • Your Domain on Namecheap: pick a Namecheap domain from the dropdown and click Continue
  • Domain on other provider: connect an external domain after the site is created

Step 4: Start and wait

Review the details and click Continue. The migration can take up to 24 hours. Track it in the EasyWP Dashboard; the site appears under your subscription when it is done.

If you see We couldn't migrate the website, contact Namecheap Support by live chat.

Step 5: Test, then switch the domain

Check the migrated copy, then point your domain to EasyWP. If the domain is with another provider, Namecheap suggests pointing it to Namecheap FreeDNS so it shows up under Your Domain on Namecheap. Keep the old hosting active until DNS has switched.

Alternatives

If the tool cannot reach your site, Namecheap documents moving it with the All-in-One WP Migration plugin or a manual file and database upload that Support restores for you.
