Site migrations are free on every Pressable Signature plan. You can run Pressable's automated migration plugin yourself, or ask Pressable's team to do it.

Before you start

You need an active Pressable account, admin access to the source site, and access to your domain's DNS. Disconnect both sites from Jetpack before migrating. Pressable hosts WordPress only. No account yet? See how to sign up for Pressable.

Step 1: Create the destination site

  1. Log in to my.pressable.com and add a new site.
  2. When prompted, choose Migrate Existing Site.
  3. Open the new site's settings, click the three-dot menu at the top right, and select Migrate Here.

This screen shows the SFTP credentials you need next, plus a Download Plugin button.

Option A: Use the automated migration plugin

  1. On your old site, go to Plugins → Add New, search for "Pressable Automated Migration", click Install Now, then Activate. (Or upload the zip from Download Plugin.)
  2. Enter an email for migration updates, accept the terms, and click Migrate.
  3. Fill in the Destination Site URL (usually the site's staging URL), SFTP User, and SFTP Password from the Migrate Here screen. You may need to reset the password before you can copy it. Other options can be left alone.
  4. Click Migrate. You get an email when it finishes, and the site appears at its staging URL.

If the plugin shows Files Not Migrated, click Show Details. Default themes, cache folders, backups, logs, and files over 1 GB are skipped; upload anything you need over SFTP.

Option B: Let Pressable migrate it

Contact Pressable by live chat or email ([email protected]) with the source site's wp-admin URL, admin login (shared securely), and your preferred data center.

Step 2: Review the copy

Clear the site cache before checking it. Page builders such as Divi may need their CSS regenerated. A critical error after migration is usually a PHP version mismatch; change the PHP version and check the error logs.

Step 3: Point your domain

Add your live domain to the site in MyPressable before changing DNS. Then either point your nameservers to Pressable (the simpler option) or add an A record at your registrar pointing to Pressable's IP address.
