How to Migrate a WordPress Site to ScalaHosting (Free Migration)
How to request ScalaHosting's free website migration from the Client Area, what login details to include, when migrations are not free, and how to switch nameservers without downtime.
- scalahosting
- migration
ScalaHosting migrates websites from other providers for free, whatever platform your current host uses. You open a ticket, the team copies everything, and you switch nameservers once the site works on the new server.
When migration is free
- Free: Moving websites from another provider, and moving between ScalaHosting servers as part of an upgrade (for example, shared hosting to a VPS).
- Not free: Moving between ScalaHosting servers without an upgrade, where you pay the same or less afterward.

Step 1: Keep your old hosting running
Leave your old account active and your domain pointed at it during the migration. That is how you avoid downtime.
Step 2: Open a ticket
From your ScalaHosting Client Area, open a ticket to the technical support team. Include:
- The login details for your current server or hosting account
- The date and time you want the migration to happen
Step 3: Let the team copy your data
ScalaHosting copies all of your data, including files, databases, and email, then checks that your website loads correctly from the new server.
Step 4: Switch nameservers
Once the team confirms the site works, change your domain's nameservers to the ones in your ScalaHosting welcome email. Because the site is already in place, the switch happens without downtime.
After the move
Cancel your old hosting once everything runs from ScalaHosting. See what ScalaHosting costs over five years on the ScalaHosting renewal price page.
