How to Migrate a WordPress Site to Verpex (Free Migration Request)
How to request Verpex's free site migration from the client area, what details the Migrations team needs, how cPanel and non-cPanel moves differ, and how to test before switching nameservers.
- verpex
- migration
Verpex includes a free migration with all of its hosting packages. You open a support ticket with your old host's login details, the Migrations team moves the site, and you test it before switching your nameservers.
What Verpex can move
- From a cPanel host: everything in one move, including site files, databases, and email, using a full cPanel backup. This overwrites anything already uploaded to your Verpex account, and your old host must allow cPanel backups.
- From a non-cPanel host: Verpex copies the files over FTP (or SSH) and downloads the databases. Email accounts cannot be moved automatically; you recreate them at Verpex.
Verpex does not handle Windows migrations or migrations to unmanaged VPS plans.
Step 1: Order your Verpex plan
You need the destination hosting in place first. See how to sign up for Verpex.
Step 2: Open a migration ticket
- Log in to the client area at clients.verpex.com.
- On the home page, click Manage support tickets.
- Click Open support ticket.
- In Subject, type
Site migration request. - In Department, select Migrations.
- In Message, include:
- The destination Verpex product or service - The domain(s) to migrate - Any SSL certificates you have - Your old host's access details: cPanel, FTP, or SSH - Any special instructions
- Click Submit ticket.
Step 3: Speed it up (optional)
If your old host uses cPanel, you can download a full cPanel backup there, upload it to your Verpex account with FTP or the cPanel File Manager, and tell Verpex the backup's filename and folder in your ticket. The Migrations team starts from that file.
Step 4: Wait for updates
Migrations can take a couple of days, depending on the site's complexity, the old host's network speed, and how many sites you are moving. Verpex keeps you updated through the ticket.
Step 5: Test, then switch nameservers
Before changing anything at your registrar, test the site on Verpex by editing your computer's hosts file, as Verpex suggests. When everything works, update your domain's nameservers to Verpex. If the domain is registered elsewhere, you make that change at your registrar; DNS changes take roughly 24 hours.
Keep your old hosting until the switch has spread and email works.
