HostGator's checkout is short. The choices that change your bill are the plan, the term length, and the add-ons left in the cart, so this guide focuses on those.

Before you start: compare intro and renewal prices

As of October 2026, our plan data for HostGator shows:

PlanIntro price (36 months)Renewal priceWebsitesStorage
Hatchling$3.75/mo$10.99/mo1010 GB
Baby$4.50/mo$16.49/mo2020 GB
Business$6.25/mo$21.99/mo5050 GB
Pro$13.95/mo$29.69/mo100100 GB

The intro rate applies to the 36-month term. A 12-month term costs more ($59.40 for the year on Hatchling), and monthly billing costs more still. See the HostGator renewal price page for the five-year cost of each plan.

Step 1: Choose a plan

Open HostGator's hosting page and pick a plan. Hatchling already allows 10 websites, so most single-site owners do not need to start higher.

Step 2: Choose the term

Longer terms lower the monthly price, and the full term is charged upfront. The term also matters for refunds: HostGator's 30-day money-back guarantee excludes services on a monthly term.

Step 3: Choose a domain

Register a new domain or use one you already own. If your plan includes a free domain and you cancel within the first year, HostGator deducts the standard domain fee (plus tax) from any refund.

Step 4: Remove add-ons you do not need

Untick extras you have not decided on. Add-on services such as SiteLock are not covered by the money-back guarantee.

Step 5: Pay

Enter your account and payment details and complete the order. Note that packages paid by check, money order, or bank wire are not eligible for HostGator's refund.

Step 6: Set up WordPress

In the HostGator portal, open the Hosting tab and click ADD SITE. You can install WordPress fresh, or transfer an existing site with the free self-service tool covered in our HostGator migration guide.

What to check after you sign up

  • Refund window: 30 days from purchase, for the first package only. Our HostGator cancellation guide covers the details.
  • Renewal price: Your plan renews at the regular rate unless you cancel first.
