WP Engine cancellations are handled through a form in the User Portal and need 30 days' notice. Only the account Owner can submit it; support staff cannot cancel for you.

Before you cancel

  • Back up every environment. After the notice period, WP Engine removes access and deletes all content. It does not happen immediately, but download backups before you submit the form.
  • Plan for the notice period. Submit the form at least 30 days before you want service to end, especially if a renewal is coming up. Custom contracts with an account manager can have different terms.

How to cancel

  1. Log in to the WP Engine User Portal as the account Owner.
  2. Select Billing in the main left menu to open the Billing and Plan overview.
  3. Scroll to the Support section and find Modify plan.
  4. Click the cancellation link: shared server plans show Cancel plan, premium accounts show Request cancellation.
  5. Fill in and submit the cancellation form.

After 30 days, the plan is not renewed, access is removed, and content is deleted.

What about a refund?

WP Engine's current cancellation and FAQ pages do not describe a refund or money-back guarantee. If you have only just signed up, ask about a refund in your cancellation form and confirm the current terms with WP Engine billing before the notice period starts.

Moving to another host?

Migrate your sites and switch DNS before the 30 days run out. If price is the reason, compare five-year costs on the WP Engine renewal price page, or see WP Engine against Kinsta, Rocket.net, and Flywheel.
