How to Migrate a WordPress Site to Hosting.com (Free Migration)
How to request Hosting.com's free WordPress migration with a support ticket, what details to include, what happens to email, and how to go live afterward.

- migration
Hosting.com's WordPress team migrates sites to Managed WordPress for free, whether they come from another host or from an older Hosting.com plan. You request it with a support ticket, then switch DNS once you have checked the copy.
Before you request a migration
- Email: Managed WordPress plans do not include email hosting. If your current host runs your mailboxes, move them first, either to a Hosting.com email plan (support can help) or to a provider like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or Zoho Mail.
- A plan: For a site coming from another host, create a Managed WordPress account first. See how to sign up for Hosting.com.
Migrating from another host
- Log in to the Hosting Panel at my.hosting.com and open a support ticket.
- Include your site's WordPress URL, WordPress admin username, WordPress admin password, and your old host's control panel login (cPanel, Plesk, or similar), if you have it.
- Wait for the team to copy the site onto your temporary site URL so you can preview it on the new platform.
Migrating from an existing Hosting.com plan
Open a support ticket in the Hosting Panel naming the plan you want to move and the Managed WordPress plan you want. Hosting.com places the order for you, starts the migration, and helps move email from the old plan too.
You can place the order and move the files yourself, but Hosting.com still recommends a ticket so the team can check your setup.
Go live
Once the copy checks out, go to Managed WordPress → My Websites → Manage, click Get Started under Ready to go live?, and follow the steps: enter your domain, add the TXT record for SSL at your DNS provider, then update the A and CNAME records. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours.
Cancel the old plan
Moving files and DNS does not stop the old plan; it keeps renewing until you cancel it. After the new site, email, and forms all work, submit a cancellation request for the old plan. On an old Hosting.com plan, credits from the cancellation are applied to your account. Our Hosting.com cancellation guide shows the steps.
