SiteGround's signup has two parts: the checkout, where you pay for the plan, and the site setup wizard in the Client Area, where WordPress gets installed. The renewal jump is the biggest thing to understand before you pay.

Before you start: know the renewal price

SiteGround's shared WordPress plans are StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek. As of October 2026, our plan data shows:

PlanIntro price (12 months)Renewal priceWebsitesStorage
StartUp$2.99/mo$17.99/mo110 GB
GrowBig$4.99/mo$29.99/moUnlimited50 GB
GoGeek$7.99/mo$44.99/moUnlimited100 GB

The intro price applies to the first term only, and renewals cost several times more. The SiteGround renewal price page shows the five-year cost of each plan.

Step 1: Choose a plan

Open SiteGround's WordPress hosting page and pick a plan. StartUp allows only one website, so choose GrowBig if you plan to run more than one site.

Step 2: Choose a domain

Register a new domain or enter one you already own. If you register a new one, note that SiteGround's refund policy says domain fees are not refundable and may be charged on cancellation even if they were waived in a promotion.

Step 3: Complete the checkout

On the review page, enter your account details, contact information, and payment details. Before paying, check:

  • Hosting period: It sets how long the intro price lasts and how much is charged today.
  • Data center: Pick the location closest to your visitors. You can change it later from the Client Area.
  • Extras: SiteGround offers optional paid extras. Leave unticked anything you do not need.

Step 4: Set up your site in the Client Area

When you order your first plan, SiteGround creates a pending site for you to finish:

  1. Go to Client Area → Websites and click Finish Site Setup.
  2. Choose New Domain, Existing Domain, or Temporary Domain, then click Continue.
  3. Choose whether you are starting a new website or transferring an existing one.
  4. Next to WordPress, click Select. Enter the email address and password for your WordPress admin (use Generate for a strong password), then click Continue.
  5. On the extras step, click Add for any you want, or Finish to skip them.

What to check after you sign up

  • Refund window: Shared hosting is covered for 30 days from activation. Our SiteGround cancellation guide explains the rules.
  • Renewal date: Your plan renews at the regular price unless you cancel or change it in the Client Area.
