WordPress.com is fully managed: hosting, security, backups, and updates are handled for you, and there is no separate hosting bill. The four paid plans are Personal, Premium, Business, and Commerce, and every one of them now allows plugins.
Before you start: compare the plans
As of October 2026, WordPress.com's pricing page lists these monthly-equivalent prices:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly | Every 2 years | Every 3 years | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | $9/mo | $4/mo | $3.25/mo | $2.75/mo | 6 GB |
| Premium | $18/mo | $8/mo | $6.50/mo | $5.50/mo | 13 GB |
| Business | $40/mo | $25/mo | $20/mo | $17.50/mo | 50 GB |
| Commerce | $70/mo | $45/mo | $36/mo | $31.50/mo | 50 GB |
Longer terms are billed upfront, and prices exclude taxes. The WordPress.com renewal price page shows the five-year cost.
Step 1: Pick a billing period
On the pricing page, choose Pay monthly, Pay yearly, Pay every 2 years, or Pay every 3 years. Annual and multi-year plans include a free custom domain for the first year; monthly plans do not.
Step 2: Pick a plan
- Personal: No ads for visitors, premium themes, and plugin installs.
- Premium: Adds premium stats, payment buttons, and video uploads.
- Business: Adds 24/7 priority support and 250 GB of VideoPress storage.
- Commerce: The store-focused plan.
Click Get Personal (or the button for your plan) and follow the prompts to create your account and pay.
Step 3: Set up your site
Build a new site with the guided builder, or migrate an existing WordPress site. WordPress.com offers a free assisted migration; see our WordPress.com migration guide. A migration replaces everything on the destination site, so do it on a fresh site.
What to check after you sign up
- Refund window: 14 days for annual and multi-year plans, 7 days for monthly plans. See our WordPress.com cancellation guide.
- Domain refunds: Only 96 hours. A free domain you keep after a late plan refund is deducted from that refund.
